We will be welcoming all levels of experience  from complete beginners to those wishing to refresh their skill.

This workshop will give you a basic understanding of the block printing on fabric technique. It will give you an idea of the process and what it has to offer with a creative approach to pattern.

Jenny Samuels will guide you through the fascinating process of hand block printing with a demonstration while offering various examples and samples of what can be achieved.

You will carve your own simple lino block used to make your pattern and will then have the chance to play and develop your pattern before finally printing a finished piece. The hand carved block is covered in dye and pressed on to fabric to make an impression. This technique is repeated over a length of fabric with precision and patience. The irregularities that appear in the printing process gives each piece its distinct energy and life.

Please bring an apron, pencil case and design ideas such as photos, pictures and sketch book. The workshop will provide all materials including lino block, cutting tools, ink, paper and fabric.
